If you’re looking to spice up your evening with a little horror during the month of October, American Horror Story is the show for you. American Horror Story is a anthology series in the horror genre of television, each season a different story following a complex set of characters and settings with each story line containing a beginning, middle and end. Each season contains an exciting story line and characters you love and love to hate, especially Jessica Lange’s character, in each season she’s the good guy bad guy of each story, starting out as an antagonist with antihero qualities, sometimes you love her and sometimes you just love to hate her, that’s what makes her acting so great.  The series is created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Fairhuk with the first season taking off with the story “Murder House,” which premiered in October of 2011 and concluded in December.   AHS:Murder House

 c0725e9839The story line “Murder House” follows the Harmon family, psychiatrist Ben(husband), Vivien (wife), and Violet their teenage daughter who have just moved from Boston to Los Angeles in order to start over after a tragic miscarriage and Ben’s affair with one of his students. The family moves into a restored mansion and soon discover that they are not alone in their new home as they encounter its former residents both alive and dead. As Ben and Vivien try to make their marriage work, Violet suffers from depression and turns to the estranged Tate, one of her father’s patients for comfort. The Harmons become greatly influenced by the people they meet and discover that their home is haunted by anyone who has ever died on the property.

             AHS:Asylum   american-horror-story-52127b026960b The second season “Asylum” premiered in October of 2012 and concluded in January of 2013. “Asylum” the story line of the second season is about sanity and it takes place in an insane asylum during the year of 1964 following patients, doctors, and the nuns who reside at the Briarcliff Mental Institution, founded to treat and house the criminally insane. The incredible Jessica Lange returns, playing the stern Sister Jude alongside her fellow wardens, her protege Sister Mary Eunice and the founder of the institution, Monsignor Timothy Howard. The doctors that treat the patients include psychiatrist Dr. Oliver Thredson and the sadistic former Nazi scientist Dr. Arthur Arden. The story also focuses on patients who were unjustly institutionalized, including lesbian journalist Lana Winters, accused serial killer Kit Walker, nymphomaniac Shelley and alleged murderer Grace Bertrund. Briarcliff’s inhabitants are subject to the supernatural and scientific experiments, including demonic possession and alien abduction.       AHS:Coven

AHSCovenPosterCoven kicked off the third season premiering in October of 2013 and concluding in January of 2014 with theme being oppression, mainly the oppression of  small groups and female empowerment. Witches whom have survived the Salem Witch Trials and are on the brink of extinction face danger from attacks by witch hunters and rival voodoo covens especially the ones that come from a unique bloodline. A school in New Orleans opens to protect young witches and keep them from outside danger as well as teach them to control their gift. At the head of the coven is the Supreme, the most powerful witch of her generation, Fiona Goode, whom has been absent from the coven for a long time. Fiona returns to ensure the safety of the coven, while at the same time attempting to fulfill her own agenda. Cordelia, the daughter of the Supreme teaches at the school and welcomes its new student Zoe Benson who has a secret of her own.Events reveal a long-held rivalry between the witches of Salem and the Voodoo practitioners of New Orleans, as well as a historic grudge between voodoo Queen Marie Laveau and socialite serial killer Delphine LaLaurie. Other themes include witchcraft, voodoo, racism, and family. The season is set in modern day and includes flashbacks from the 1970s and 1830s.

     AHS:Freak Show   FreakShow FX renewed its contract with American Horror Story in November of 2013 for season 4 which will be airing 13 episodes and the story “Freak Show,”  season 4 will be premiering in October later this year.
