These are your paranormal pop culture updates for the week of January 30th, 2015!

Eddie Redmayne has added another award to his list of accomplishments for his performance as renowned scientist Stephen Hawking! This past Sunday, Redmayne received the SAG Award for “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role”. He dedicated the award to Hawking and anyone who ever suffered from ALS saying “In preparing to play Stephen, I met many people fighting ALS, and I met their families fighting alongside them. And the courage and the bravery and the spirit, this triumph of spirit that I witnessed, blew my mind. That’s why I’m incredibly grateful to them.” Winning the SAG Award has increased Redmayne’s chances of winning the Oscar in February, but at least Redmayne knows that his representation of the enduring spirit is the real focus.

A video that has gotten the attention of people all over the internet has been the trailer for the found footage style film called “Unfriended”. The movie is about a girl who committed suicide after someone anonymously posted a humiliating video of her on the internet. While on a Skype video call, a group of friends become frightened by what appears to be the girl back from the dead, and she insists on finding out who posted the video, or people will die. YouTube parodies of this trailer have quickly pointed out that they could’ve just turned off their computers, but the trailer has successfully made the Skype sounds creepy. The movie “Unfriended” will be released sometime in the spring of this year. Watch the trailer below!
