This is your weekly Paranormal Pop Culture Update!

First things first, even though the popular ensemble horror television show American Horror Story doesn’t premiere its new season called Freak Show until October 8, this show is getting a lot of attention because of their creepy teaser trailers that they have been releasing the past few weeks. This week, the released a full length trailer that is a showcase of the spectacularly freaky cast. The trailer leads you on a tour of the draped tent as you see the Bearded Lady (Kathy Bates), the conjoined twins Bette and Dot (Sarah Paulson), and the master of the freak show Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange) wearing a dress that matches the red and white stripes of the tent. The smaller teaser trailers and this full length trailer have certainly increased the anticipation for the season premiere, and we certainly are ready to be horrified.

Second, SYFY has premiered a couple of shows this week. The first show, Haven, returned Thursday for its fifth season. This show is based off of the novella The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. It is about a group of people who are afflicted with the supernatural who sought refuge in the town of Haven, Maine as FBI agent Audrey Parker discovers them and the issues they face.

This show aired Thursday, September 11th at 8 pm EST and will continue to air Thursdays at 8 EST on SYFY.

A new zombie show, called Z Nation, will premiere tonight, Friday, September 12, at 10 pm EST. A group of survivors three years after the zombie apocalypse broke out needs to bring the only man who survived a zombie bite from New York to California in order to find the last functioning viral lab and create a vaccine that may save lives. The man who carries the antibodies, however, has a secret that will threaten them all. This show is from the same film company who make the Sharknado movies, so this show is sure to be a horror treat!

Note: Expect a creepy zombie baby.

Next, a new paranormal book for preteens has been released this week! This book, called Nightmares!, was written by Jason Segel, best known for his movie and television roles, and best selling author Kristen Miller. Nightmares! is about a boy named Charlie Laird, who had to move into an old purple mansion after his dad married a woman who moonlights as a witch! On top of that, Charlie has terrifying nightmares every single time he sleeps without fail. He and his friends have to face their fears and nightmares in order to save their town. This book is the first of a trilogy, so pick up this book today! It is available at book retailers, both online and in stores.

Last, but certainly not least, a scary game has been gaining a lot of popularity online. This game is called Five Nights at Freddy’s. In this game, you play a night security guard at a restaurant called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where families come to eat pizza and be entertained by animatronic robots. Your job is to watch the robots, whose behavior is erratic at night. You must watch the security cameras and close the door when the robots get too close. Unfortunately, you have limited power each night. Can you survive Five Nights at Freddy’s?

To get a preview of this game, you can search for it on YouTube and you will find that many gamer YouTubers have tried this game and were horrified by it.
