This is your weekly Paranormal Galaxy Pop Culture Update for the week of August 29th, 2014!

This week, a highly anticipated horror movie is released today in theaters! The movie is called As Above, So Below. This movie is about a group of explorers who go into the infamous catacombs underneath the city of Paris. These catacombs are like an uncharted maze and are the eternal home for countless souls. While they are there, they uncover a dark city that lies within the catacombs, and the journey becomes one into madness and terror. This movie looks deep into the human psyche and reveals personal demons that come back to haunt everyone.

This movie is rated R so be careful who you bring to this movie. Also, as a personal suggestion, any people who are severely claustrophobic  may want to stay away from this movie. Even in the preview, you know that the characters get into come tight spots. Be sure to check to see if As Above, So Below is in a theater near you!

We said goodbye to one of the most popular shows on prime time television this week. True Blood aired its series finale this past Sunday. This series finale has become the most talked about show this week. So if you haven’t gotten to watch this series finale yet, be sure to check HBO’s schedule or just use HBO Go to watch it online. If you would like to see more details about True Blood and its finale, be sure to check out hbo.com/trueblood to find behind the scenes features and interviews.

BBC television shows have also gained a lot of attention this week. Last Saturday’s season 8 premiere of Doctor Who gained record viewership of 2.2 million! that’s the highest viewership any BBC show has gotten from a season premiere. Next week on Doctor Who, The Doctor will encounter the Daleks who are surrounding a rebel ship. The Doctor may end up changing the Daleks forever which will make him question his morals. It’s definitely a guarantee that when there’s Daleks, there’s trouble.

This show airs on Saturdays at 9pm EST on BBCA.

A new paranormal thriller show on BBCA is gaining momentum as well, and it is called Intruders. It is a new 8 part series that premiered after Doctor Who last Saturday and it got almost 1 million viewers. This show is produced by Glenn Morgan (X-Files), and it is about a secret society who chases immortality by seeking refuge in other people’s bodies known as the Qui Reverti. This show has a multi-layered story line starting with a murder investigation and a missing person’s case, but it becomes so much more as the main characters get closer to the truth.

This show airs Saturday nights at 10 pm EST on BBCA.

To close out this week’s updates, I will recommend a horror game that you should try (or at least watch someone try). The game is called DreadOut. It is a PC game released earlier this year and was created in Indonesia. You play as Linda, a high school student trapped in an abandoned town filled with sinister forces. If you like the classic weirdness and twisted spirits that epitomize the Asian horror genre, this game is highly recommended. I watched popular YouTubers, the Game Grumps, play this game, and it is really well made and will definitely hand you some really scary moments.

To watch the Game Grumps play this game, click here! Sometimes they use more vulgar language, so make sure kids are not in the room. Their game play takes 9 videos to watch it.
