‘Tis twelve o’clock – and another year
Will you notice the Ghost of Time appear?
He will stay but a moment and then be gone,
For time and tide keep moving on.
He brings a message, for us to hear
A plea for a kinder, wiser year.
To learn from, and change, the sins of the past.
For the clock is ticking, loud and fast.
Will you listen? take time to hear
As he ushers in another year.
Will you leave behind all hurt and sin,
And let a year of goodness in?
Will you heed the voice of the Ghost of Time?
Will you listen to his reason and rhyme?
He carries his clock, and his cloak is long.
For time keeps moving, marching on.
He stays a moment, then is gone again.
For he fears his voice will speak in vain.
The Ghost of Time, a lonely sight
Moving away to the dark, dark night.
Twelve o’clock, and another year,
Was the Ghost of Time really here?
Will this year improve? or be the same?
Will the Ghost of Time return again?
What will happen? Will the world decline?
If we listen not, to the Ghost of Time.
